Point Lobos, CA at Emerald Bay is such an iconic image that I've seen around social media when searching Big Sur. As I've said in a previous post, I've lived here for most of my life and yet have not seen all of what it has to offer. There is a bit humor in realizing how much I wish to travel more to see beautiful locations only to find a few in my hometown. Emerald bay was an amazing view that is easily accessible. The trail was relatively flat with minimal inclines. We took South Pleateau Trail all the way south and circled north up Bird Island Trail.

Emerald Bay can be seen on Bird Island Trail. Sometimes one can see a family of seals resting on it's shores. The water color is as you see in my pictures and more vivid in person.
Bird Island Trail flaunts Point Lobos' costal features. From jagged rock formations with peculiar 'doorways' to rocks that had been smoothed by angry crashing waves.

We took the trail all the way up to Piney Woods, then took Pine Ridge Trail back to the entrance of the park. This location is one of the easiest strolls I've had compared to other trails. Some vistas are completely accessible by car as there are paved roads that lead to small parking lots at certain popular locations. However, for me vistas are just less rewarding if I did not work to find/reach it.
