Big Sur-roundings

I went to hike around Big Sur, CA for the first time as an adult without my parents. I've lived in Monterey,CA for most of my childhood and adolescents but one never really appreciates one's hometown until they leave it. After getting lost for 20 minutes with my sister in her minicooper, a very bumpy drive indeed, trying to find the entrance of the hiking trails that would lead to Mcway Falls we stumbled upon Pfeiffer Beach. It was a beautiful location and a much needed retreat to the worries new graduates have who have not prepared properly after graduation.

I have recently completed my graduate studies in MSN, Case Management to hopefully pursue research in lupus. Sometimes it is difficult to put things in perspective when one has to face the obligations that must be adopted to continue living in this society.

In these times of doubt I tend to visit the outdoors. The colossal views that nature has to offer puts worries in perspective. It is never as bad as one believes and 'waiting' is part of the journey. My sister and I never found McWay Falls that day, but Pfeiffer Beach and the time spent with my sister was such a rewarding experience. The truth of the matter is, our intended destination can wait and sometimes enjoying the process as it is in the present can offer important lessons that should not be dismissed or devalued. So I wait.
